BED BUGS IDENTIFICATION PHILADELPHIA PA

Bed bugs are common in some places but they are not common to all. They are now in many places in the US. Though they are spreading fast to areas where they have not been found for a long time, there are chances that many people have them in the home but don’t know what they are. For someone who has never come into contact with bed bugs, bed bug identification can be quite difficult. The problem with not knowing the bed bugs is that you cannot fight what you don’t know. This means that it will take more time for you to start dealing with the bed bugs in your home and this period may be just enough for a full blown infestation. Bed bug identification is crucial if you must eradicate them from your home. Remember, the more bed bugs you have in your home, the more difficult it becomes when you want to eliminate them. Moreover, when the bed bugs are not identified, they can cause a lot of health problems to those living in the home.

Bed bugs can only be properly identified by someone who have ever seen then or studies about them. This is because they can be confused with other domestic pests like cockroaches which in their early stages of development look like bed bugs. Besides cockroaches can also be found in the bedroom and other living places where bed bugs love to hide. Proper bed bug identification can only be done by professionals but there are several ways a lay person can identify them.

BED BUG LOCATION

Unlike, other pests, bed bugs hide in special places. Most people might be used to cockroaches which will normally be found in the kitchen and wherever food is served. Bed bugs will never be found in kitchen. Because their main target is your skin, they will want to hide near where they can find you exposed and that is no other place than your bed. They will hide on the mattress edges, folds, on curtains and on the edge of your bed. They also hide in your wardrobe and on edges and hems of clothes. Their main aim is to be near where they can easily reach your body.

BED BUG BITES

Bed bug bites are one of the ways to identify them. A cockroach might never bite you but a bed bug will always bite you if it is in your bedroom. If you are woken up by that painful bite that leaves you feeling itchy and pain, you could as well say that you are sleeping in the midst of bed bugs. Bed bug bites leave the skin irritated and sometimes blood may be spotted on the place where it was biting.

BED BUG BREEDING

Bed bugs breed in numbers and they will mostly be identifiable on the edges of your mattress. If you notice many small egg looking balls on the edge of your mattress, you should suspect bed bugs. They are fond of laying eggs in one place and this can be a good way of also dealing with them. If the eggs have hatched, you can see small black or brownish insects crawling around where the eggs are and this can be another indication of the presence of bed bugs.
